Hi there,
Quick question, after a long research about google/yahoo rank I found out that If you have a forum on your site it helps with rank because of the text. Now if I register at a site like (only an example) forozilla.com a service that provides free forums. Would that help or do I have to install it my self on my own site?
Any help, comments, advice would be appreciated.
Thank You

The forum would only be of SEO benefit to you if it became an authority site i.e. many inbound links from quality sites on a specific subject. If hosted by a third party, you'll need to make sure that the site passes on the link-love to your site. The benefit of hosting the forum on your own domain, is that your domain becomes the authority site, which is more valuable for that brand then links from one. On the other hand, a separate authority site can be used to pass link-love onto multiple sites - so it depends what your future plans are.

The easy part is to set up forum software. The hard part is to attract forum members in order to develop critical participation mass.

It will only be of real benefit if it is hosted on your own server. From a functional and seo perspective I would advise installing either vbulletin or IPB.

Im always amazed that people think a forum is different then any other part of a website.
