Hi all,
I could use some advice.
I've got a directory.
www. buying-directory.com

It used to be a PR5.

About 2 months ago the PR dropped to 0.

A site: search shows that pages are index.
A link: search returns 0 backlinks in Google.

This is some sort of penalty.

I know it is a penalty because when PR gets updated it has PR5. Then a few days later it drops to 0.

Has this happened to any of you before.
How long does the penalty last.

Possible reasons:
Someone somewhere (another forum) said that this site was a g o o d p l a c e f o r $p a m m rrs to g e t l i n ks.

Don't want to exacerbate the problem.

I obviously don't think that is true.

We screen submissions to insure that they fit with our theme.

What can be done?

how come www. buying-directory.com has a 302 redirect to
www. buying-directory.com/directory?

Are you saying it shouldn't. It's just the way it is set up.
I suppose I could change it. Do you think that is the problem?

A lot of supplemental pages due IMO to many empty cats showing AS and affiliate links...

Has it always been like that?

a 302 is a temporary redirect in the eyes of a search engine spider, if you don't want visitors and spiders to start at your index page then this should be changed to a 301 (moved permanently)

empty cats should be removed or populated with sites, especially seeing as you have empty cats with adsense ads showing which is against the adsense TOS
