I have found a better hosting company as well as other benefits to build a site from scratch. In the process I have found a domain name that has a strong keyword for my site if I decide to go with it. However there are some benefits to transferring my domain name.

1. After quite a bit of work for over 6 to 9 months I finaly have a page rank of 2. I know that is not much but it is better than starting off with 0. I have backlinks from both article directories and regular directories and I am in the major search engines but have no real ranking.

2 If I move my domain will these benefits come with me or will I have to start over?

3 If I go to a domain name with a new keyword or keywords is that worth not having the benefits my old domain name gave me mentioned earlier?

I wouldn't weight the PageRank as highly as I would the backlinks.

Moving your domain (and site) as they are, to a new hosting company, shouldn't change your existing rankings.

So do you think it is worth transfering if I have found a new domain name with strong keywords?

A posting from SEOmoz (http://www.seomoz.org/articles/sessanjose06.php) mentioned that SE's re-evaluate a website if their IP changes.

Something to consider...

"SEs typically re-evaluate sites when they move IP addresses" - Jon Glick SES presenter.

Matt Cutts of Google said it doesn't effect your rankings if you simply transfer to another hosting company.
