Is Yahoo really an entertainment company that will use communications, etc to leverage entertainment? Or is it really a big Internet media company?

I think Yahoo wants to be more than a "life engine". Prediction: Yahoo wants to be an entertainment destination. This is why it re-assigned Jim Moloshok to go and court Hollywood. It wants to be a platform to help Hollywood distribute movies, TV shows, etc. on the Internet. So it's not just advertising, but people will be able to download movies and TV shows for a fee. Yahoo becomes a distributor.
WRT Yahoo, what does not make sense is, its failed at this before. Yahoo Platinum and Yahoo's various artist fan clubs were failures. So, why is it pursuing this strategy? What twist is it pursuing now that will make it successful?
WRT yahoo, why is it becoming more like AOL. Its not as though AOL has been successful at becoming a content distributor.
Is my conclusion about Yahoo becoming an Entertainment Platform wrong?
