Hello,

I am currently working a full time position and would like to eventually transition over to Virtual Assistant and SEO work at home as well as on the road. My experience includes Administrative & Executive Assistance and a huge amount of online research as well as some marketing project coordination assistance. What is the best way for me to learn and enter the SEO field?

I would suggest to do it part time initially, there are tons of information already available on internet, this area need diligance and patience and you need to invest your time in updating your knowledge and skills thoroughly and regularly. You should also make it note that like other business, SEO is also highly competitive field, it require enough skills and knowledge to appeal to this arena.

Thats food for thought.....

What do you think about the $1500 to $2000 SEO classes & online learning - any opinions?

no don't do that. You need to learn online.

You'd be better off buying the SEObook at www.seobook.com. It's like $80 and a much better value.

The issue I have with classes is that you will learn outdated information. The seobook is constantly updated with new information and if you buy the book, you will be notified when it is updated.

My advice:

REad the seobook. Use a highlighter. If you don't understand something come back to these forums and look it up via a search to get more information. Then, if you don't find the information, ask a question.

Next, get your own website, even if all it is a blog, and start learning how to drive traffic to it. You'll need a web metrics plugin/ program for it so you can look at metrics. In this business, you have to learn by doing.
