Just recently when I searched for the name of the company / the url I can't find it in the SERP's for Google.

When search for a keyword that the website is optimized for then I see my url.

Does anyone know why my index page is gone from Google? I re-submitted the home page but I don't think that will do anything.

When i search for "site:www.url.com" i see that all the pages are indexed

Whets the best way to get the home page back into the SERP's?

This has never happened to my urls and I do not practice un-ethical SEO.

thanks

When you do the "site:www.url.com" search do you see your index page as being indexed? In that case maybe it's just that your home page does not rank well for your company name and main keywords and needs optimizing.

it is indexed. the site has a PR of 4. the home page is optimized correctly; with keywords, meta / title tags etc. All the pages are indexed. The home page (/index.php or just www.url.com) can not be found in the SERP's.

do you think google removed the home page for some reason? it sounds like it did.

Sarbro,
I don't really believe that there is such a thing as being penalized just for one page of your site. Either the whole site is penalized or it isn't. As far as I know, same thing for being penalized only for certain keywords.

I do think however that criteria may be different for certain sets of keywords that might be more competitive or more subject to spam. So it may well be that the keyworrds you targeted for your main page are just more difficult to rank highly for than the keywords your other pages are ranking for.

It could be just a temporary glitch and that page will jump back up again later. I've seen this happen many times - but with Yahoo. It could happen on Google too i suppose although compared to Yahoo it usually far more stable. I expect it will be back soon.

This exact same thing has happened to 2 of my clients.

On Monday all the rankings for one site that were attached to its homepage disappeared. I went into mad panic investigation mode and found that the root page was no longer in the google index.

On Tuesday however it returned along with my rankings.

The exact same thing then happened to another client on Wednesday but they have returned this morning.

Somethings definately going on but what it is, I am yet to fathom.

My feeling is that this happens now and then and that there is no particular thing behind it, at this time. I've seen no movement o note of my pages on Googe. On Yahoo, it's a different matter, I think they have been up to something in recent weeks.

One of my sites has been ranking well in www.google.co.uk and has been on the first page of results for quite a number of keywords for quite some time. Results had been steadily climbing as we built content and links. Then suddenly, yesterday, the index page gets completely dropped. The rest of the site is still indexed but not the home index page.

Whatever people say about not being reliant on Google for business the fact is without Google we will lose over 70% of our business so big panic here.

All the other pages are still there and indexed. The interesting thing is that we registered about 6 new domains last month to stop future abuse by competitors with our trade names. We set up none frame redirects on these domains from the domain sellers control panel to our main website. Now, when we do a search for htpp://www.domainname.com URL search on Google we get the site listed but with Google giving the URL as http://www.newdominaname.com that was set up solely as a redirect. In theory Google should not even know about our new domain names, interesting that a new domain is known and gets linked to the index page of the main site and takes over the main site index page on a URL search (but nowhere else). I suspect the new domain redirects may have something to do with the index page being dropped so we have today stopped any redirects from domains we own to our main site. Will that rectify the situation in time or are we being penalised because Google thinks we were up to sneaky things with redirects (we were not)?

Anyone have any insight into this problem?

Hello

Yes i have the same problem, changed the whole site from html to php and since having 20 odd url's list with google only the home page is listed now, it is only new last month managed to get it listed, have read that this is quite talked about and changing to php without using mod rewrite could have you in trouble, well we'll see.

I setup a script on my site for mod rewrite, it takes out all the hasseles of mod rewite

Easiest mod rewite tool available for online use free of charge

Link for the mod rewrite towards the bottom of the links page
Free Online SEO Tools - Computer Systems - PC Workstations - Online Computer Sales (http://www.pcaccessoriesparts.com/Links-Page.html)

It has may features make sure you click the buttons to make full use of the script, like below

Hopefully google will be good to this coming month?
