View Full Version : Pageranking surprise
Hi all, first post here.
I have just moved a website with pagreank of 0 from class c IP to own server.
Just noticed pagerank of 2 :) on my new index page and 4 :D on our contact us page.. other pages have 3 , some still on 0 .. can anyone explain?
This has happened over a 24 hr period.

Hi Neb, Welcome to the forums, hope you find it useful! :)
Sounds like you've switched over your website just in time and caught an PR update. That is quite common to see internal pages with a stronger PR then the homepage, there are a few reasons for this. Firstly internal pages could have a strong internal link to that particular page, or the linking structure of the website reflects strongly towards particular pages or the page has been in existance longer then the others (most unlikely if a new website)
PR isn't all that great really, it is in no way a true reflection of how well it does in the SERPs. :)

Well i agree pr isnt that great but plays a vital role in search engines in future perspective. ;) . Well the relevance of the matter has also a mere pressure on the indexing of the page, in simple language, how the search engines take it.
So keep updating yourself in the field of seo,so that you are up with the trend and hopefully get a good turn-over.

Do me to chase PR as part of your strategy?

How could this happen in 24 hrs?
I found a new site got PR more difficultly than before, but i'm more eager to have one.

LOL.. perfect for learning to get the hang of it and recognize it when you see it. :D
Added - doesn't work either way but I think we can fill in the blanks and it *is* educational.
