I downloaded the new build of the Yahoo! Toolbar yesterday, equipped with Norton Antii-Spyware, and with the first run-through it detected a trojan right off. Nasty one, too - Black Curse 4.0 (remote administrative tool, written by a hacker, according to what I've found online). Later on in the day I ran a full system scan with it, and two more were detected. One I forgot to note the name of before I deleted, but the other was RAT.exe
Both I identified are complete remote administrative tools, capable of taking a computer over completely (for executing DOS attacks and what have you) and I believe also with keystroke logging ability, for grabbing passwords and such. I had NO idea - I never, ever download anything I don't know for sure can be totally trusted (which is virtually nothing), so these were apparently drive-by downloads with no consent or knowledge on my part.
That stuff was totally scary to find. Thanks to all the toolbar dudes at Yahoo!
