I am adding products to a client's shopping cart with products that manufacturers have given him permission to use from their website. He wants me to cut and paste the manufacturer's product descriptions for his own cart.

My question is will Google ding him for duplicate content, even though it is legitimate?

Why would Google want to index 2000 sites with the same 20 000 pages of identical content?

Why would a visitor want to go anywhere other than the true authority site: that of the manufacturer?

Yes you can use the description but do not have total content of the page as non unique.

How many people are using the same description on their site ?

Is there a way I can do a search to see how many websites are using the same product description? Any software you recommend?
