Google is now showing an enhanced search page for people looking for geo-targeted online dating.

See these examples:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=boston+dating&btnG=Search

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=chicago+dating&btnG=Search

These results appear to be a combination of scraped personal ads from leading dating sites and Google Base.

It looks like web publishers are coming up with creative ways to utilize Google Base. Google appears to be supplementing natural SERPs with Base results for a number of different searches. It's also interesting to note that they recently removed the link from Froogle from their home page. Does this mean that Base is becoming more important?

Yea, that is actually one small piece of Google Base, see base.google.com

I wonder if the dating sites participating in Google Base have updated their privacy policy to mention that profiles may be syndicated on other websites? A user may get more eyeballs than they bargained for when their pic, and headline show up on Google.

I gave it a try with a few cities, and it's bringing that up with one word city searches like newark dating and chicago dating, but not with two word cities like los angeles dating and san francisco dating.

Nice find, thanks Jeremy.

All I'm seeing is regular SERPs with AdWords above and to the right. What should I be seeing -- extra search options from Base, similar to real estate searches?

I think what each of us sees may depend on a combination of where we are (geo-targeted serps) and what's available locally.

I didn't see any local results at all for the linked Boston and Chicago searches, so I tried [san francisco dating]... since I'm in the Bay Area... and yes, I do see local results, but here they happen to be for local dating bureaus.

Clicking on individual results brings up CitySearch reviews followed by spidered web references. Depending on what list you click on where, you might get a flag on the map with a clickable link before the reviews and web pages.

I tried the one word Bay Area locales as well (not that many of them) and didn't see any Google Base listings for the Bay Area at all.

For those of you who can't see the results, I posted some screenshots on my blog (http://www.revenews.com/jeremypalmer/2006/08/google_online_dating_no_kiddin.html).

And no, I don't see those -- not even on searches for my local area. Then again, this is a small town and may not have a lot of data in Base to pull from. We don't even qualify for the real estate search dropdowns......
