SiteA is a non-US government related website and has inbound links from government websites (.gov.uk, .gouv.fr or .gob.mx) from a relevant and popular page.

Do you think that these inbound links are considered just as important as a link from a .gov domain?

The big 3 engines have been caught focussing on the US and forgetting about the rest of the world a few times, so would be interesting how these are dealt with in their algorithm.

It would also be interesting whether the second level government domains of certain countries are given less importance.

What do you think?

Interesting idea evil. I have to run out the door, but wonder if this could at all correlate with the idea of increased importance based on the location of the site's hosting as well as their own TLD, eventually transferring to better rankings within Google.co.uk, etc... but not necessarily to G.com...

Will explain more what I am thinking later...but along the lines of the research Robert Charlton has put together in this thread...http://forums.searchenginewatch.com/showthread.php?t=11795
