I just don't get it. Type in "Cigar Advice" and look at the ads that are served for that phrase. Were the other advertisers grandfathered in before Google stopped accepting "Cigar" ads?

Why is mine being rejected? I've rewritten it several times.

After re-reading your post, I found the guidelines page and your thought must be correct. The site still bidding must be grandfathered in.

https://adwords.google.com/select/contentpolicy.html

***added: Haha seeing all those "evil things," it makes me wonder why SEO practitioners are allowed to bid! :p Seems like by not allowing these sites and by allowing SEO's, Google is trying to shoot itself in both feet (ok maybe just with a BB gun and while wearing boots). Just my personal opinion...but if I was a stockholder I may question this since people will go elsewhere to find said products/services.

It is hard to juggle that 'Do No Evil' with 'Make A Profit' .......

Any suggestions on title or copy changes?

I dont think anything is going to help unless you completely change your content. like the above referenced guidelines state, "Advertising is not permitted for the promotion of tobacco or tobacco-related products."

I don't think you can get into a semantic discussion about this because people talking about their love for cigars would most likely be very easy to paint as being promotional. On top of that, the blog carries advertising that promotes tobacco use (the text links to thompsoncigar.com).

No argument. The blog is there to attract new customers and it works well enough that I have a budget for search ads.

Obviously Google has the volume but there are other search engines that may get you convertable traffic.... try the small engines... even the shopping engines might be an alternative

Good idea by the Oz master. Also, akagor, you may want to convert your budget and try to go for Consumer Generated Media (CGM) in order to drive traffic. I know the subject of blog spamming is not much appreciated in here; however in my opinion you honestly attempt to provide decent length articles with little-to-no banners. You are like an MFA-maker that's grown up. :p I feel that you may strike a cord with other cigar lovers out there and could get something decent going virally.

I love 'virally' .... it sounds so dirty :)
