I enter site:www.mywebsite.com into Google's search box every morning to see if Google has spidered my site and to check my page count. I have noticed that the results (page count) fluctuates from 5 - 10 pages regardless of whether the spiders have crawled/indexed my site or not since the last time I checked.

Why does this happen?

Google has a lot of datacenters that are not always up to date with each other, and we receive results from whichever datacenter they choose at the time. It can even change between one page of results and the next.
