i need to contact google to let them know about a few javascript links that i just got from a very authoratative set of domains.

i just went down to city hall and talked to the mayor's office manager and she sent me to some other dudes and they gave me the links. i think they're good links and sent an email to "webmaster@google.com" to let them know, but got bad email answer.

there used to be a form for contacting them(google) but i can't find it. it was the one that i used to let them know about some jagger stuff(where i had to put jagger1 in subject). but, like i say, can't find it....

so...does anybody have a link to that form or a valid email address for the Big G?

i used the webmaster@G address b/c i remember the msn folks saying "send emails to "webmaster@msn.com" to let us know about ... from ses chicago 04"

i'm not familiar with the procedure with posting the from links and where they point in this forum so i won't post them untill told otherwise...

thanks for ya'll's help,
Dan Sullivan

Nice to see another bum in the forums ;-)

I have no idea what you are talking about sorry....

Search engines do not really follow JS links to get sites into Google, if that is what you mean...

If your trying to out a spammer, file a spam report with Google et al.

Let us know what you mean by your post, I am sure others are scratching their heads!

i recently(a few weeks ago) got a link from www.ci.tuscaloosa.al.us if you hover over the "VISITORS" area in the top nav and select "Dining". The city of Tuscaloosa recently acquired www.tuscaloosa.com also... they have duplicate content on those domains right now.

However, they gave me a link to www.tuscaloosarestaurant.com on that top nav link that i mentioned.

if i view the source of the "from" pages in question, i can't find an "<_a href..." sans _ to the TuscaloosaRestaurant.com domain.

i'm also not finding anything at siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com to indicate that they have picked up the link either. msn also...

i figure that since google (or the others too...) can't follow a js link with their bot(s) that i'd tell them that i do have a reputable link in person.

does google still deal with people in person?

thank you,
Dan Sullivan

Google has never dealt with people in person, unless your using Adwords or having payment problems with Adsense.

Best of luck!

Hi Dan, and welcome to SEW Forums.

As Wilksy said, contact isn't made personally for search, and the only links that'll be recognized are the ones found when pages are crawled. Unfortunately, those are JS links and they're not seen by spiders. Here's what that page looks like in Google's text cache (http://72.14.203.104/search?q=cache:http://www.tuscaloosa.com/&hl=en&lr=&rls=GGLD,GGLD:2005-11,GGLD:en&strip=1).

So really, the only benefit from that link is the traffic. Still, congratulations for getting the link and having the initiative to go after it.

i do think that the links are valuable in that they'll still give me the high quality traffic. i'm grateful for that.

however, i would like to get even more traffic by better serps as well. getting a link from the city when you are interested in traffic wanting information about that city is one of the best you could hope for. it would help validate my site with great link juice. But since my locality chose to use .js to provide navigation, i bleed oportunity cost from google and others. well, i think that is a load of syntactic expletive.

has anybody else had a similar situation that had a resolution?

thank you,
dan sullivan

Here's Google's contact info, but it will take an act of God for them to contact you back or talk to you about anything other than AdWords or Enterprise Solutions. Good Luck! http://www.google.com/contact/index.html

>she sent me to some other dudes and they gave me the links.

Why not go back and ask them to make the links into regular HTML links?

:D Okay, now I get it... Your site is the tusca restaurant - That's pretty wild that the city placed a direct link to you from their navigation. They've done it with other sites too. It looks like they just link out to other sites, thus avoiding creating their own branded pages... Not smart but it'll benefit you. The Java is a bummer, but since they've added you on their own just click the "contact webmaster" at the lower left of the homepage and ask them to post an html link somewhere on the site.

From the looks of your Alexa ranking, the city of tuscaloosa needs a link back from you, more than you need the link from them.
