LMAO! So, what does "acquiring google" have to do with this? I was wondering how a site I had never heard of had some $100 billion :)

What's LMAO?...

Iduno... It's late and I get more depressed evertime I see Googles new search engine at work. Ugh... I thought the old version did a pretty good job of keeping that junk out of site, but now I'm starting to see it again. It's gotta be acquisition, how else would one company like superpages have so much influence on search relevancy. Boy - Wow they have everything! Lets see that site.

I just dropped a comment at Matt Cutts blog, ... Anyway - I only hope he's got time to at least make some official statement about the search engine being out of order and is man enough to let us all know why Google dropped high quaility original content sites in favor of the big idiots with deep pockets... Hey did I just answer my own question?

What's LMAO?...Laughing My Arse Off. ROFLMAO is Rolling on the Floor Laughing My Arse Off, and LMFAO you have to fill in the blank yourself. :)

Matt is on a long vacation, he won't be back until June 30, I think is what he said. Check the source code, links are probably automatically rel=nofollow

Is this speculation the reason why Google is down at this part of the globe?

let's keep in mind that Matt Cutts almost never makes any "official" statements on that blog:)

While he may not say they are official, the words that he writes in that blog are representative of the company's view and put there for the public to consume. No matter what, if you work for a company, you represent them publicly and officially whenever you do anything in public. It's "da law"... Public misrepresentation of a company while in their employ, can be construed as negligence, malice, lible, etc. Nothing is on Matt's Blog without a purpose. Whether it's to distract the competition, inform the public, fish for feedback or all of the above, it's official - even if it's "officially unofficial". Sometimes the these tactics are used to urge people to say things they would not normally divulge, because they feel safe because it's "off the record" or "unofficial".

That may be your deifinition, but it is certainly not Google's, Matt Cutts - or mine personally, for that sake. I believe yo have freedom of speach in the US and that covers Matt as well :)

Matt writes about what he likes - most of the time search related but not allways. He is not blogging as an official spkes person but as a private person working at Google. Off course he repsects Google and would not say things to hurt them, and off course he sometimes try and "spin" things for the good of Google. I am 100% sure he really truely loves Google, so why would he. But he is not doing so, to my best knowladge, as an official spokesperson.

When Matt is speaking at SES he do so on behalf of Google - but that is a different issue :)

I totally respect your opinion Mikkel. I think the way I do, simply because history shows us that nothing is done without a reason. When the rose colored glasses are taken off or the blinders removed, many whom think like you, may see a different version of the truth. To me it's just common sense... Why would a super busy guy spend his free time writing much to do about nothing? Why else would someone in a high level employed position at a global, publicly traded company be allowed to run a blog that discusses the company whom that person works for?

I found this link on ask.com which probably contains some insight to my opinion although I'm not sure because I have not read any of it: Blogging Bubble or Big Deal? (http://www.forrester.com/Research/Document/Excerpt/0,7211,35000,00.html?gclid=CMjXkdHDtIUCFU2uJAodeFF svw)

Here's some snippets of company employee blogging from forrester.com (http://forrester.com), (you have to register for free in order to gain access):

CORPORATE USE OF BLOGS SHOULD VARY BASED ON BUSINESS GOALS
Blogs are starting to become a business phenomenon... companies develop blogging plans in four strategic areas: 1) monitoring blogs; 2) letting employees blog on their own; 3) supporting internal blogs; and 4) creating external, public blogs....

Monitor Blogs For Impact On The Brand...
One key difference between blogs and other types of consumer-generated media — such as discussion boards and forums — is the interconnected nature of blogs....

Monitor blogs with agency services...

Comment on others' blogs. Rather than just lurk as readers, companies can make their first forays into blogs by providing comments to posts on others' blogs....

Allow Employees' Personal Blogs, But Provide Formal Guidelines ... rather than prohibit blogging, companies provide personal blogging guidelines for employees, similar to policies that outline the proper use of corporate email, with disciplinary action or dismissal as the ultimate sanction... Set expectations on when the company will intervene....

Connect With Customers Through Public Blogs
The biggest reason why most companies shy away from having an external, public blog is the fear of legal repercussions — the nightmare scenario is a lawsuit arising out of poor advice gleaned from a blog....

Companies that present a human face have an advantage. The thought of having a public company blog instills fear in traditional command-and-control corporate cultures. But giving customers a view of the inner workings of a company has its tangible rewards...

Search engines will favor blog postings. Search engines naturally push blog postings to the top of search results...

How much control does your company need to exert over communications? In some companies, legal or regulatory requirements mean that nothing ever gets released to the public without extensive legal review...

Does your company have something important and unique to share? A company could simply repurpose press releases on its blog — and nobody would ever read them. Instead, consider what information you could provide that would connect with customers...

Is your company ready to listen — and act? Having a blog also means that you're willing to listen — especially if you allow readers to post comments. Even if you don't enable comments from visitors, acknowledging customer ideas and concerns demonstrates that you are listening and are taking action...

SO.... Basically according to Forrester, Company Blogging is designed with some purpose in mind, not just for jibber jabber. perhaps the jibber and jabber helps keep it softer and feeling less like corporate propaganda, but in essence that's what it's for.
