I was hoping that someone can help me understand why Google serves up different results.

Recently I have done a search for 'Jacksonville Real Estate' from my home where I live and gotten results that are showing my site either on the first or second page for the search term. If I search for 'Real Estate Jacksonville' I am in the 2nd position on the first page. Just for clarification this is normal searching at Googles home page. No quotes, staight search.

What is baffling me is that when I search from a different computer for example my employer, my brother-in-laws house, I get totally different results as a matter of fact my website is not even listed in the top 100 results.

Even more when I run a program that I have that tells me where my pages are ranked for my keywords I get results that are different there as well. Usually indicating at least for Google that I am somewhere around page 7 or 8. Just for reference the program that I have is accurate when it comes to Yahoo and MSN.

So with all of that being said what is going on?

Does Google serve up different results on different computers?

Any thought on this would be apprectiated.

Thanks

*Does Google serve up different results on different computers?*

I've read of people getting different results from the same computer using different browsers ;-)

Seems to be mostly a datacentre thing, they've a load of them, some have differing results and you never know which one your search will be directed to.

Yes it severs up different results on different computers.

For Example:

My computer at work approx 25 miles away obviously different IP address.

My brother-in-laws computer 5 miles away.

The other computers in my home provide the me the questionable results.

I just find it extremly odd. That the results vary so much.

It may be that you have personalized search turned on and you get served a page you click on frequently.

I seem to remember something being said at one time that different ISP's go through different DNS severs and backbones which are set to use different datacenters. HTH
