Lots of lovely juicy tools on MSN adCenter:
http://adlab.msn.com/

The website is so badly/purposely coded that it only seems to work on Windows with Internet Explorer. Almost as bad as their Search and Win website which used blackhat hidden content and keyword stuffing.

Anyway, Search Funnel (http://adlab.msn.com/searchfunnel/) seems very groovy and an easy way to impress your marketing department. The data isn't the most comprehensive in the world at the moment although I'm sure this will improve over time.

According to WMW (http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum114/172.htm):
The data is based upon Passport data, some manual data, and a few other sources.

Anyway, good to get different ways of representing search data and gaining further insight into user behaviour, still some work on it to come though one hopes.

These tools are truly great, I wish they become operational quick, especially the search funnel and the Demographics Predictions !

I like the tools however, if we don't have finite control over where our ads run how can we effectively use the information we glean from these tools?

Is this the start of tools specifically made to address demo targeting for interactive tv websites?

Would be interesting to see whether search engines try to persuade ISPs into giving all users fixed IPs with the customer's correct town and county/state/province registered to it. Fixed IPs will be in much greater demand very soon, with technology such as Sony TV's "LocationFree" (http://www.sony.co.uk/ShowArticle.do?article=1147443616106) requiring one for remote TV access as well as other home automation technology. Users will need them, and the engines need them for real geo-targetting.

I read my local cable provider and ISP's privacy policy last year.

They track every single move I make online, including shopping cart transactions. All to "improve the customer experience and help identify theft and or fraud".

Right! - This is where a great deal of targeting data will come from when the Internet and Cable TV converge.

They also force all outgoing email to go throught their servers.

I like the topic of Internet/Cable convergence and how it will change the advertising game as well as how we consume media in general. - if there is more commentary on this I will spit it into it's own thread.
