Well, as a former editor my opinion is that once you've submitted, you should not do it again. The submissions are not lost; they are either listed, rejected or not acted upon. And you will not be notified of any resolution if acted upon one way or the other. The usual statements include comments like be sure to submit to the most appropriate category. That means submit to the lowest level in the hierarchy that your site would fit into. Even if you do not, editors will should feed it to where it belongs, but it behooves you to do your homework and save that intermediate step as it will just waste time otherwise.

It's difficult only to the extent that someone takes a look at your site, and that could be tomorrow or next year depending on the "popularity", if you will, of the cat's that editors get to. If your site is related to shopping, travel or some other spam-prone category, you will probably have to wait some time. They say Regional/ is often a faster way to get in if your site qualifies. So check that aspect out. If you qualify for a topical listing, check that out also - you are entitled to both if the site qualifies. If it is a multi-language site, then submit to all languages that apply; many sites are done in 5 or more languages, and they would then qualify for 5 or more listings.

Read the listing guidelines carefully and resubmit only if you feel you have made a serious mistake in your earlier submission with an explanation. Two submissions are not a problem; many more than that may well be.

thanks for the response.

i did take some time with the submission, putting into a regional category at first, then on not getting submitted put it in a more general category.

this has been over about 5 months with no listing or response. the site had decend backlinks, it's in the yahoo directory, ranks in the top page in yahoo, msn, ask, and ultimately is unique by subject, the company builds baseball fields.

so maybe i should just wait.
