Hi everyone,

I just realised how easy it is to stuff content using the noscript tag.

Is there's a limit for that tag? How does Search engines related to it?

Will they consider it a spamming technique? Or only above a certain limit?

What's the best practive for that specific tag?

Thanks
Julien Raby

I think stuffing the noscript tag will be considered spam.

To replace the functionality lost when scripting is disabled... and nothing more.

I understand, but the door's clearly opened to some abuse, since the spiders cannot see what's inside the script, they cannot compare... So until someone flags it to the search engine, they can get major benefits from that technique.

It's scary...

As said before, the noscript tag was invented to provide an accessible alternative to users with javascript disabled. When the content in noscript is not an alternative to the script's content or functionnality and is directed toward search engines, it is spam technically speaking.

Je comprends, mais c'est tout de même une tactique difficile à cerner pour les moteurs de recherche...

Yes that's true and old techniques like this one still works. So it's up to you.

*...they can get major benefits from that technique.*

Apart possibly for Flash sites I'd be sort of surprised if it brings much benefit nowadays...
