Hi there,

My revenue has hit rock bottom since Google's implementation of policy vs. Online gambling related ads - where even portals and information sites were banned from using Adwords.

However, they are NOT FAIR in their implementation, day in and day out, I see online gambling related adwords listings for gambling search terms that are supposed to be banned.

I contact them on a regular basis alerting them to these listings, but it takes two weeks before they take out offending listings. In the meantime, my accounts and my listings are permanently disabled.

This has hurt my revenue, I am considering a lawsuit. I have recorded all email exchange and screen captured search results.

Please advice.

Hey there,

We have online casino clients that are affected as well. This action of dropping casino ads really only seems political at this moment in time. Overture and Google WILL get back to it, its a cash cow for them, with prices over 20.00 per click on keywords, only 2 companies are making money on it....Overture and Google.

Last update i saw was

This ban is hurting alot of other publishers right now, we see the ads on Google.ca all the time and it is something that has to be addressed fully, for everyone, or its time to get back it the business game as opposed to moral majority opinion

2 cents

cheers

the question is...

they are not implementing it properly, many are able to continue advertisements.

The NET EFFECT is some earn more revenue, some (like me) pile up loses in revenue.

- I thinking a civil lawsuit, perhaps a class action suit vs Google & Overture/Yahoo.

At the last GIGSE show in Toronto that was an issue buzzing around the floor. It will be very interesting as soon as these publishers become more aware that this type of "filtering" online business can bite you back in the a**.

Online casinos account for such a huge share of revenue across the board, but when you have some ppl in higher up government politics that dont approve of it, it will be an ongoing problem

I can't recall the standing record for longest-time-between-posts in a thread - but this has to be a contender at three years and three months. ;)

True.... I was going to ask a related question.... can industries that think the gambling interested may convert well for them be able to advertise for the terms...

for example investments - people who gamble could also be traders

Like Poker? Try Day Trading

Interesting question, Frank. I think your example may be a little far-fetched, but when I was at MagazineLine we ran ads for poker magazines with good success. However, we stayed away from keywords like "online poker" and the like.

But gamblers are financial risk takers - and are good for potential high risk investments - they may not know about your product so grabbing them during a gambling related search could work well

I have also added some ads of google adsense but after a week it was banned.. so i agree to given words in quotes..

I was just scanning all the active thread from this week, looking for quoteworthy threads and/or posts for the Advertiser Feedback Report that goes out each Thursday night, and ran into this one.

It's fascinating to me that a 2004 thread would be brought back to life twice by seemingly out of the blue posts in 2007 and now 2008.

I'm looking forward to seeing this thread again on it's five year anniversary, in 2009. :)
