I was wondering if these datacenters show the same results as others for people who have "older" websites.

For me, they show results that are much much better than the others for competitive keywords. They have been showing different results for several weeks now

If they show same results for older websites these might be an indication of where you are with your seo?

Hi DannyH,

Welcome to SEW forums!

You are probably seeing different results as a result of Google's Big Daddy infrastructure changes.

See Matt Cutt's blog (http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/bigdaddy-on-the-move/) for several posts on the subject. There is a simple test to see if you are in a Big Daddy datacenter:
Also, it looks like [sf giants] is a fine query to see if you’re hitting Bigdaddy. If you get giants.mlb.com at #1, you’re searching Bigdaddy. If you get www.sfgiants.com at #1 and an uncrawled url http://sanfrancisco.giants.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/sf/homepage/sf_homepage.jsp at #3, you’re hitting the older Google infrastructure.
There are numerous posts here at SEW (http://forums.searchenginewatch.com/search.php?searchid=338441) with additional details.

Hope that helps.

martin

Thank you for your reply martinuboo,

I will check and read the suggested urls thank you for pointing them out to me.

The results I get now from these two datacenters put me on place 20 while the rest show me on 77

Does this mean the other two datacenters show Big Daddy results?

Both these datacenters are currently showing "Big Daddy" results for me. Most Google datacenters are now showing BD results:

http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/bigdaddy-status-update-almost-there/

We’re down to just 1-2 data centers left in the switchover to Bigdaddy. It’s possible that the Bigdaddy switchover will be complete in the next week or two. Just as a reminder, Bigdaddy is a software upgrade to Google’s infrastructure that provides the framework for a lot of improvements to core search quality in the coming months (smarter redirect handling, improved canonicalization, etc.).

I spot checked several of those dc's and they appear to all show BD results. I am puzzled by the those two higher rankings. It does not appear to be related to BD, but who knows. During changes, there are often different results.

If I were you, I would just wait and see what happens in a bit. In the meantime, review your SEO basics and build some more links.

Good luck!

Thanks for your time martin, much appreciated.

Yep Im working on my backlinks.

Would it work/help to move the directory I have to another domain I just registered
http://www.bambooflyfishingrods.com

and let the sites that wish to add a reciprocal link point to keone.com?

by the way those two datacenters have been showing these results for the past several weeks.

The real reason I asked the initial question was if anyone with "older" websites
showed different results from those datacenters too.

If not than this could mean that these datacenters do not show "age penalized" results.

Or am I way off here?

If you are talking about setting up 3 way or a triangle link exchanges, I think I would stay away from that. While reciprocal linking appears to be devalued in Google nowadays, the 3 ways could be interpreted as a link scheme. I don't have much first hand experience with 3 way link exchanges, so maybe someone else may have other advise.

I just checked a few of my terms on those datacenters and they do show better results for me (plus they show fewer competing pages by a little bit). I'm not sure what it means. As I said above, give it some time and see how it shakes out with other datacenters. Watching individual dc's can drive you nuts!!

yes it is driving me nuts and I think I'm going to go with your advice and leave it a rest. I checked other sites for age and other things. but I cannot find a real logic. some older sites show better, worse and the same results...

I guess these datacenters have a mind of their own. Some sort of testing beeing done there I guess.

pre Big Mamma tests :D

As for linking 3 way I hope someone else could fill in here too?

Thank you so much for writing me Martin.
