Not naming the word I was curious what everyone was paying for the top words in their SEM program.
Right now we have 2 at $16, with good CTR they occasionally dip to $11.
Obviously price is only a reflection of what the market has in the way of margin and how well they convert.

I remember paying as high as $26.00 in a competitive industry, it did show a quantified conversion from the keyphrase, so i guess at that point it was a good spend

I know of keywords that go up to $100 (on overture at least). Not that I or my clients are bidding on terms like that. :)

Yeah I have been told there are a bunch of legal terms going for $100... like structured settlement and class action suit... since referrals are worth 3,500-5000 or more you only need to convert 1 in 35....

I was targeting a $100 keyword through adsense, and I just got my first click a few days ago. $100 keyword brought in $0.07 for the click. Maybe all the real bidders shut off the contextual option.

Yeah we have contextual turned off for our high terms... I would imagine most would, also it is not default to be contextual so even the novices would not get caught this way.

somewhat of a bold blind guess there
why wouldn't you disable content syndication and then made a second cheaper similar adgroup with content syndication on???

Have you thought of adding "search for adsense" on the site and maybe they search and click for those terms....

I don't know. I don't know that much about the details with AdWords. I have not run any detailed campaigns, so don't take much from what I say in the Google AdWords (http://forums.searchenginewatch.com/forumdisplay.php?f=31) forum. :)
